Special Weather Statement

Issued at 00:16 Thursday 30 March 2017

March will end on a wintery note.

A developing low pressure system moving into Missouri will track towards Southern Ontario in the coming days.

Snow associated with this weather system is expected to spread into the regions Thursday night and continue into Friday, although it may become mixed with or change to freezing rain or rain in some locales. The precipitation should then taper off on Friday night. Total snowfall amounts of between 5 and 10 cm are likely in some areas, although they could be higher should the changeover to rain not occur. Less snowfall accumulations are expected over areas in closer proximity to Lake Ontario due to slightly milder temperatures.

At this time, it does not seem likely that snowfall warnings will be required. However some uncertainty remains, and the evolution of this storm system continues to be monitored closely.
