Snowfall Warning

Issued at 20:09 Sunday 23 April 2017

A significant late season snowfall event is appearing more likely for Monday and Monday night.

Snow is expected to develop on Monday across portions of northwestern Ontario and become heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. Snowfall accumulations of 15 to 20 cm are likely by Tuesday morning. Gusty northeast winds to 50 km/h will produce some blowing snow as well.

There is also a risk of some freezing rain in some areas.

This snowfall warning may need to be expanded to include other regions as additional information becomes available.

###

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.

Snowfall warnings are issued when significant snowfall is expected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
