Special Weather StatementIssued at 15:22 Sunday 18 February 2018
A good taste of spring with significant rainfall and very mild temperatures on the way.
A series of weather systems are forecast to track northeastward across Lake Huron and Georgian Bay starting Monday. This track will place the region into very mild air, along with periods of rain as each weather system passes by.
Latest indications suggest total rainfall amounts of 25 to 50 mm between Monday night and Wednesday from these disturbances. The rain, combined with temperatures more typical of mid April, will result in most, if not all, of the snow on the ground melting away by mid week.
Environment Canada is closely monitoring this situation. Rainfall warnings may be needed as this event draws closer.
