Severe Thunderstorm Watch

Issued at 12:00 Friday 29 July 2016

Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.

Very slow moving thunderstorms will be an issue to deal with again this afternoon into this evening. There is potential for some of them to become severe with torrential downpours giving 50 mm of rain in an hour or less being the main threat. Frequent lightning and wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible.

###

Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes. Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to storm.ontario@ec.gc.ca or tweet reports to #ONStorm.
