Severe Thunderstorm WatchIssued at 12:36 Sunday 28 August 2016
Conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts and heavy rain.
A hot and humid airmass is expected to reside over Southwestern Ontario for another day before a cold front sweeps through the area tonight dropping humidity values. Early this afternoon thunderstorms are expected to develop ahead of this cold front. A few of these thunderstorms will have the potential to become severe.
Intense lightning is likely with any thunderstorm that develops. Remember, severe thunderstorms can produce tornadoes.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
