Winter Storm Saturday Night.
Light mixed precipitation is expected to develop Saturday. Precipitation is expected to become heavy Saturday evening.
Current indications are that areas west of Ottawa will see precipitation mainly in the form of snow and that areas to the east will see mainly freezing rain.
Near Ottawa. significant freezing rain is expected Saturday evening. The freezing rain will change through ice pellets to snow Saturday night. The timing of the changeover is uncertain and this will affect the snowfall amounts.
West of Ottawa, snowfall amounts of 15 to 30 cm are expected.
Over the eastern Ottawa region, the freezing rain will change to rain in some areas before changing to snow Sunday morning.
Snow will taper to flurries around mid day Sunday.
There remains considerable uncertainty regarding both the phase and amount of precipitation.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
