Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 20:19 Wednesday 26 April 2017

A long lasting period of freezing rain and ice pellets continuing into Thursday.

Freezing rain and ice pellets associated with a late season ice storm will continue tonight for a few hours. Latest indications suggest the freezing precipitation will become light and patchy for a few hours overnight, before the next surge of moisture brings a return to extensive freezing rain Thursday morning.

Snow and ice pellet accumulation will be variable across the region however 5 to 10 centimetres is likely. Freezing rain will change to rain through the day on Thursday as temperatures slowly rise above the zero degree mark.

###

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and extremely hazardous. Extended and widespread utility outages are possible.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.cpio-tempetes-ospc-storms.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports using #ONStorm.
