Freezing Rain WarningIssued at 15:14 Saturday 24 February 2018
Freezing rain likely on Sunday.
A fast-moving low pressure system over Missouri this afternoon will cross the Great Lakes tonight into Sunday. It will spread some brief snow or ice pellets into the region by Sunday morning. This will be followed by a changeover to freezing rain later Sunday morning. Several hours of freezing rain are likely before it changes to patchy rain later in the day.
Roads may become slippery Sunday, although some initial snow and ice pellets should minimize ice glazing on bare surfaces.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
