Freezing Rain WarningIssued at 04:32 Monday 22 January 2018
Significant freezing rain is expected this afternoon into the overnight hours.
Snow at times mixed with ice pellets is forecast to begin through the morning today. Several centimetres of snow and ice pellets are likely before the precipitation changes to freezing rain this afternoon. Roads will likely become slippery, initially due to snow followed by a layer of freezing rain.
Freezing rain will likely change to rain overnight as temperatures rise above the freezing mark.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Ice build-up may cause tree branches to break. Utility outages may occur.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
