Severe Thunderstorm WatchIssued at 13:18 Sunday 25 June 2017
Conditions are favourable for the development of strong thunderstorms that are capable of producing significant hail and isolated strong winds.
Scattered thunderstorms are occurring across much of Eastern Ontario.
Many of the thunderstorms are producing small hail. However, isolated stronger storms are capable of giving 2 centimetre hail. Given the cool temperatures and favourable atmospheric conditions, the hail may be abundant and nearly cover the ground at times. The main concern is damage to tender crops and plants.
Isolated strong wind gusts to 90 km/h are also possible.
Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, torrential rainfall.
