Rainfall Warning

Issued at 04:29 Tuesday 24 January 2017

Rain, heavy at times is expected.

A low pressure system approaching from the southwest will give significant rainfall to Nova Scotia beginning in the southwest this morning and in Cape Breton near midnight. Precipitation will begin as freezing rain over most areas but then change to rain as warm air pushes in and temperatures rise above zero. Total rainfall amounts of 30 to 70 millimetres are expected with this system.

###

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to ec.weatheraspc.ec@canada.ca or tweet reports to #NSStorm.
