An intense, fast moving low pressure system will cross eastern Newfoundland tonight. This system is forecast to bring heavy rainfall and strong winds to the Avalon Peninsula and a wintry mix over regions just west of the Isthmus.
Over the Avalon Peninsula, rainfall amounts of 25 to 40 mm can be expected over just a few hours. In addition, southerly wind gusts of 80 to 110 km/h can be expected.
From the Burin Peninsula to Bonavista, including Clarenville and vicinity, rain will develop this evening then change to snow and end overnight. Snowfall amounts in the range of 2 to 5 cm can be expected, with as much as 10 cm over higher terrain.
