Wind Warning

Issued at 21:18 Tuesday 23 May 2017

Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.

An intense low pressure system will bring strong northerly winds, with gusts up to 100 km/h possible, beginning early Wednesday afternoon. These strong winds will continue through the afternoon before gradually diminishing Wednesday evening.

Depending on how the low pressure system develops wind warnings may need to be expanded farther south.

Additionally with this low, an area of rain will move into central parts of the province tonight and, into the Capital Region by Wednesday morning, and southeastwards to the Saskatchewan border by Wednesday afternoon. General amounts will be in the 20 to 30 mm range by Thursday morning with locally higher amounts possible due to embedded thunderstorms. Rain will taper off later Thursday morning as the low moves eastward.

###

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
