Heavy rain is expected.
A low pressure system developing near Fort McMurray will bring a period of heavy rain to parts of northeast Alberta starting this evening and lasting until Monday . Generally most areas will see a storm total of 30 to 40 mm of rain however thunderstorms embedded in this system will drop very heavy rain over localized areas with the possibility that some areas could receive over 100 mm.
Latest forecast has areas has the heaviest rain near a line from Fort Mckay to Wabasca to Calling Lake to Athabasca. There is still a lot of uncertainty regarding where exactly the heaviest band will form and the line mentioned above could shift east OR west by as much as 80 km. Please monitor this warning as it will be updated as new information becomes available.
Heavy downpours are likely to cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
