Freezing Rain WarningIssued at 15:38 Tuesday 16 January 2018
Freezing rain is expected or occurring.
A pacific disturbance is expected to spread rain and patchy freezing rain across central Alberta beginning over western sections early this evening. Precipitation is expected to fall largely as rain however the impact of rain falling on cold ground surfaces such as roadways and sidewalks is still expected to be significant. Conditions will improve late Wednesday morning as the system exits the province.
Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery.
Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
