Rainfall Warning

Issued at 10:11 Tuesday 19 September 2017

Rain, at times heavy, is expected.

A slow moving low pressure system will stall over central Alberta for the next couple of days. As a result areas to the west and northwest of the low will receive significant amounts of precipitation.

By early Wednesday morning portions of west central Alberta are expected to see 50 to 60 mm of rain. The rain is expected to gradually taper off Wednesday afternoon.

Over areas of higher elevation rainfall will become mixed with snow. Local accumulations of 2-4 centimeters are not out of the question.

###

Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.

Rainfall warnings are issued when significant rainfall is expected.
