Special Weather Statement

Issued at 15:34 Saturday 25 February 2017

More snow tonight.

A weather system sliding down the BC coast will reach the South Coast early this evening bringing mixed precipitation to the area. The precipitation will likely start as rain then change to snow later this evening, especially over higher terrain and inland sections. The snow will taper off on Sunday morning as the system moves to the south and out of the area.

Over Greater Victoria and the Southern Gulf Islands, a trace to 2 cm of snow is forecast with 5 cm over higher terrain including the Malahat.

Over the Sunshine Coast, up to 4 cm of snow is forecast for tonight.

Over Metro Vancouver, a trace to 2 cm of snow is expected with higher amounts up to 5 cm over higher terrain and over eastern sections.

Another system coming from the north will move onto the BC South Coast on Tuesday which will bring the potential for some more snow. Beginning Wednesday, a series of Pacific weather systems will start arriving on the BC South Coast from the west bringing milder air and rain.
