Storm Surge Warning

Issued at 17:31 Saturday 19 January 2019
Summary

Higher than normal water levels with large waves are expected near the coast.

Warning of potential overwash issued jointly by Fisheries and Oceans Canada (Science) and the Meteorological Service of Canada - Quebec Region on 2019-01-19.

An intense Colorado low pressure system will cause strong to high winds in the regions mentioned below. The combination of these winds and the fact that we are currently in a period of high tidal range will cause a major overwash along the coast near these localities, on the dates and at the times specified (Eastern standard time).

Quebec City: 2019-01-20, from 04:00 PM to 08:00 PM.

###

Coastal flooding is possible along the shoreline. Coastal erosion is possible in vulnerable areas.
