Freezing Rain Warning

Issued at 22:12 Saturday 18 November 2017

An area of freezing rain is already affecting the Southern Ottawa Valley towards Montréal. This area will move into regions further north this evening, then move toward Central Quebec tonight. The freezing rain will spread over several regions of the Gaspé Peninsula early Sunday morning.

Amounts of freezing precipitation will vary between 5 and 15 millimetres north of the St Lawrence River while they will range from 1 to 4 mm over areas south of the river.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots will become icy, slippery and hazardous.

Freezing rain warnings are issued when rain falling in sub-zero temperatures creates ice build-up and icy surfaces.
