Hot and humid conditions are expected today into Saturday.
The maximum temperatures today and Saturday will reach 29 degrees Celsius or greater. Minimum temperatures tonight are also expected to be near 18 degrees Celsius, providing little relief from the heat.
Current forecast guidance suggests that temperatures meeting heat warning criteria may persist into Sunday. A cooler airmass is expected to move into the area by Monday.
The risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors.
Heat warnings are issued when very high temperature or humidity conditions are expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.
