Special Weather StatementIssued at 16:42 Tuesday 24 January 2017
A pair of low pressure systems are expected to bring significant snowfall to Labrador Wednesday night through Friday.
Snow is expected to develop over western Labrador by Wednesday evening and spread to the coast by Thursday morning. Current indications suggest that total snowfall associated with these systems is likely to reach or exceed 20 cm over western Labrador by Thursday evening and elsewhere by Friday evening. Total snowfall accumulations over some areas may exceed 30 cm. It is expected that snow will continue into the weekend and bring further amounts, especially over northern regions.
Due to some uncertainty in the track and intensity of both storms, updated details on snowfall amounts and location will be provided in future statements. The public is advised to monitor these latest details as travel will potentially be affected for several days.
