Special Weather StatementIssued at 21:30 Monday 17 May 2021
Rain changing to wet snow will occur Tuesday night into Wednesday over central and northern Alberta.
A storm system moving into Alberta on Tuesday will bring rain to a broad area over central and northern parts of the province. Starting Tuesday evening, cold air from the Northwest Territories will move southward, causing rain to switch over to snow. At this time, snowfall amounts remain uncertain as ground temperatures are quite warm.
Potential impacts include poor travel conditions Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and the potential for broken tree branches due to the accumulations of heavy wet snow.
