What version of the application is the latest one, and how do I get it?
In October 2007, we released WeatherEye version 2.5.0.3. If you have not been prompted to download the latest version you can install it here.I have been prompted to upgrade my WeatherEye to a new version but I keep getting an error from the installer?
There are several reasons why you may not be able to download the upgrade:- When you first downloaded the WeatherEye application, it should store your files in your C:\program files\TheWeatherNetwork\WeatherEye on your computer. If at any time you have changed the location of your files, the upgrade mechanism will not be able to locate them on your computer. You may want to consider updating the application from here by downloading a new version as this will quickly solve the problem.
- You must have administrative access to download any applications to your computer. If you are unsure if you have administrative access please refer to your Operating System manual or speak with your IT support team. Alternatively, you can prompt the WeatherEye installer to load the application onto your desktop files. In some instances, the application can run from here but you will need to enter this information during the installation process, please see picture below. Click change and enter new location for files.

- Are you connected to the Internet? An active internet connection is required for the WeatherEye to get updated data from our servers.
- Do you have a compatible operating system with our WeatherEye application? Windows 98, Windows 2000, XP or Vista operating system is required to operate this WeatherEye version.
- When we release a new version, it takes several days to update all of our customers. If you have received a prompt to upgrade but have clicked "later" it may take some time before you see the prompt again. If you want to access the latest version quickly, you can install it from here.

My WeatherEye says it is connecting but it is not showing any weather data for my city?
There are several reasons why you may not be seeing weather data:- Are you connected to the Internet? An active internet connection is required for the WeatherEye to get updated data from our servers.
- Do you have a compatible operating system with our WeatherEye application? Windows 98, Windows 2000, XP or Vista operating system is required to operate this WeatherEye version.
- The WeatherEye is scheduled to call for data at certain time intervals throughout the hour, to manually call for new data, click on your application when it is expanded and then hit SHIFT F5. Your WeatherEye will get the latest information available from our servers.
- To service almost 2 million WeatherEye users, we serve our weather data from a large network of servers. If one of the servers is having issues you may not get updated data immediately. By manually calling for new data by clicking on your application when it is expanded and then hit SHIFT F5, the application should retrieve data from one of the operational servers. If you are still having issues after a significant period of time, please contact us here and we will address your concerns as quickly as possible.

Is WeatherEye available for Linux operating systems?
Unfortunately, WeatherEye has not been compiled for Linux operating systems, however, if you do have the Wine software install, the WeatherEye for PC should be able to run. Alternatively, our Yahoo WeatherEye might be an appropriate option for you.How do I change my current city to view weather information on a different city in the WeatherEye application?
With WeatherEye open, click on the "Options" tab located near the top right of the application window then click "Edit" beside the city you would like to change. Choose the location of the city (i.e., US, Canada or International), then choose the city from the drop down menu. Once you have selected the city, click "OK". The new weather information is now available in your WeatherEye.Can I view weather information on more then one city?
With our new WeatherEye application, you can view weather conditions for up to three different cities from your desktop. To add a city, click the "Options" tab located near the upper right corner of the WeatherEye application. Click the "Add a City" link/button then choose a location and city, then click "OK" to save the information. The new city is available by clicking on the WeatherEye icon located in your desktop tray.
NOTE: You can view climate information for up to three cities at the same time using WeatherEye.How do I change the temperature from Celsius to Fahrenheit?
From the "Options" tab, click on the "Edit" button beside the city you would like to change the temperature unit for. Click on the unit you would like to use then click "OK" NOTE: If you have more then one city listed, you must edit each cities preference separately.How do I change my language settings?
To change the WeatherEye application from English to French, click on the "Options" tab, then click the "Advanced options" tab. Choose your language preference from the drop down menu, then click "OK".
NOTE: Changes to the language preference will affect all cities you are tracking through the WeatherEye.I tried to download the WeatherEye and it says that I do not have System Administrator access, what does this mean?
The WeatherEye application is designed to automatically place the required files to run the program within your C:/Program Files. If you are not authorized as the system administrator you will be prompted to place the files elsewhere. The files can then be stored on your desktop and the application will run accordingly.My computer works on a Proxy server, can I use the WeatherEye?
If your proxy server changes, you can revise the settings by clicking on the "Options" tab within the WeatherEye application, then clicking on the "Advanced Options" tab. You will then need to enter your IP address of the proxy server. Proxy information can be obtained from your ISP or IT personnel.Why are there advertisements on the WeatherEye?
We do sell some additional advertising on the WeatherEye to maintain the product and continue the software development and future growth to make it more serviceable to our users. If you have any preferred advertisers that appeal to you, and/or that you would like to see offers from, please send us your comments.How do I get the short term or long term forecasts for my city?
When the WeatherEye is open, the city name at the top of the application is a direct link to the City page on TheWeatherNetwork.com. This will provide you with any additional weather information you may require.How often is the weather information updated?
The weather observation data can be automatically refreshed if you press F5 on your keyboard while the WeatherEye application is in the Open Position.How does WeatherEye notify me of weather alerts?
When a weather alert is issued, a flashing lightning bolt will display over the temperature reading within the system tray, and in bold highlighted text within WeatherEye itself. Clicking on the alert within WeatherEye will link you to theweathernetwork.com where you will be able to view the entire weather alert for your city.Does WeatherEye contain Spyware?
NO, WeatherEye contains no Spyware. All information and communication flowing through the WeatherEye application comes directly from The Weather Network. We are in no way connected to any of your other computer systems or files. The WeatherEye gathers the most up-to-date weather observations from our data via the Internet. Your computer must be connected to the Internet to receive weather data.Can I view a 14-day trend of the weather for my city?
With WeatherEye open, click on the 14-day link located under the wind, humidly and pressure reading near the top portion of the application. This will open a browser window to www.thewethernetwork.com where you will be able to view the 14-day trend on your selected city.Can I access information about maps, roads and travel from WeatherEye?
With WeatherEye open, you can click on any of the tabs located across the top to have an internet browser open to www.theweathernetwork.com providing you with in-depth information on:- Weather Maps
- Road (driving forecast, weather and traffic cameras)
- Travel (travel guides, airport information, travel search and much more)
- Heath (flu/air quality/pollen/snow/bug reports, weather statistics and much more about your health)
- Seasonal Activities (seasonal recreation activities such as ski reports, around the house and school day forecasts).
How can I let my friends and family know about WeatherEye?
Think a friend or family member would benefit from having access to up to date weather information directly from their desktop? Clicking on the button located at the bottom right of WeatherEye will send an invitation eMail information your friends and family about the benefits of WeatherEye from The Weather Network.How do I uninstall WeatherEye?
To uninstall WeatherEye from your computer click "Start", then programs. Find The Weather Network folder, then click on "Uninstall WeatherEye.17. Norton Internet Security Suite and installation of the WeatherEye.
If you are running Norton Personal Firewall and would like to install the WeatherEye, first make sure that the Norton Firewall icon in the system tray is allowing incoming traffic. Once you begin the download process, Norton will recognize that The Weather Network is attempting to connect to your computer and will display the dialog box, "Always block connections from this program on all ports (recommended)" DO NOT SELECT OK (doing so will block the download process and any future downloads from www.theweathernetwork.com )On the screen, you will see a pull-down menu in which you will select. "'Always allow connection from this program on all ports". If this popup message appears again during the installation process or during the initial start up of WeatherEye, again select ""'Always allow connection from this program on all ports" prior to clicking the OK button.
If during the installation process, you accidentally clicked the default selection, "Always block connection from this program on all ports" you will need to access Norton Personal Firewall and remove www.theweathernetwork.com from your blocked list. You can change this setting by right clicking on the Norton Personal Firewall icon in your system tray and then selecting Norton Personal Firewall (at the top of the menu items). This will open up a dialogue box where you will select "Statistics" from the left hand navigation menu and then click the "View Logs" button. Within the Log Viewer window, select "firewall" from the left hand list then click on the page with the "x" through it in the top bar. Click "yes" when asked if you want to clear all log entries. To download the WeatherEye, visit http://www.theweathernetwork.com/inter/weathercentre/desktop/ and follow the prompts to download the application.
