Chris Murphy
Chris Murphy graduated from the Radio and Television Broadcasting Program at Seneca College in 1996. He then worked at various different radio stations until he joined The Weather Network's broadcasting team in August of 1999.
An avid outdoorsman, Chris includes skydiving and white water rafting among his personal achievements. He especially loves fishing, and he'd like to reassure everyone he releases everything he catches! Chris has had the privilege of travelling across Canada from the Pacific to the Atlantic. Some of his most memorable experiences include camping in Banff and exploring the Cabot Trail (during sunny conditions!) In the future, Chris looks forward to buying a lakeside cottage, and attending a Grey Cup game in Edmonton's Commonwealth Stadium.
Sheryl PlouffeSheryl’s childhood was spent in Timmins, Ontario swimming in briefly-tolerable lake water in the summer and making Architectural Digest-worthy snow forts in the winter. Her family moved to B.C. in 1984. She got into television at the age of 19, (I suppose now is a good time to stop talking in the third person) when I signed up to volunteer at the local cable station in Nanaimo.
I later worked in Banff, Alberta and Toronto, before moving to Kitchener, Ontario in 1995. After working at Rogers Television and in local radio, The Weather Network came calling in 1999. I have been here ever since as a CMOS-endorsed Weather Broadcaster and a back-up News Assignment Editor. I’ve taught TV Performance at Conestoga College and have appeared in international television commercials and industrial videos. I love nothing more than to spend time at the cottage with my son and husband… oh! and shopping…. and shoes….
Anne-Marie SweeneyAnne-Marie Sweeney has always been fascinated by the powerful effects the weather has on our everyday lives. She’s often reveled at how a sunny day can brighten moods, and bring people outdoors. Contrarily, she also knows the aggravation a Canadian snowstorm can bring to people, causing heavy traffic, cancelled flights and damage to property. “The beauty of it all is that it changes everyday! A fresh start, a new adventure, or another day of stress and worry. It’s all in your point of view!” Anne-Marie began her broadcasting career as a radio announcer at well known stations such as Energy 108, Mix 99.9, and The Wolf in Peterborough, Ontario. She was offered the rare opportunity to become one of North America’s only female rock-radio morning show hosts, but her fascination for weather sent her in front of the cameras at The Weather Network. Anne-Marie is an honours graduate of Ryerson University’s School of Journalism, where her hard work and determination earned her an assortment of awards. Her most notable achievements include winning the Michael de Pencier Award of Excellence, the Millennium Award of Excellence, and two Faculty of Communications and Design Awards. A former professional figure skater, Anne-Marie still enjoys an active lifestyle. In her spare time, you can find her outdoors gardening, walking or swimming.
