May 22, 2013... Arrived in Flåm by train from Oslo. It was a five hour trip through Norway's beautiful "outback." An hour before arriving in Flåm a transfer was made in the village of Myrdal. The next morning this is the view (photo) I had of the settlement of Flåm from my hotel. Flåm, population 350, welcomes tens of thousands of visitors annually. They arrive by both train and cruise ships. It's amazing how so many of those large ships are able to dock in the harbor of that tiny hamlet.
