A sad time for me, but thankful I wasn't in our canoe and near the dam when it broke. Thick layers of vegetation were easily peeled off the bedrock from the force of the water. The rainfall this past month proved the undoing for an already weakened dam due to its age. I feel very sorry for the beavers that lived here with winter just around the corner. The break is about 30 feet long, with the height of the dam around 5-6 feet. The beavers may come in and fix it but not this year.
