Cinnamon Fern (Osmundastrum cinnamomeum)

113 views Christine W June 29, 2015 East Chester, Nova Scotia Date shot: June 27, 2015

Cinnamon Ferns may be found as tall as six feet, and grow wild along the road that I take towards the shore, also to be found in my small forest. They have what is called a fertile cinnamon coloured frond, found in the centre of the fern, giving the fern its name. The cinnamon-coloured frond also have 'sori’ on them, making spores, like seeds on another plant They grow in clumps of moist woods, and wet ditches.
