A mourning dove was on the ground in front of my apartment & sitting on a nest that had fallen from a tree with two babies in it. One baby had passed away the other still alive with the parent trying to tend to it. They were right in a high traffic & danger zone. I took the one baby in for the evening & put it back out in the morning so the parents could find & feed it. And that's just what they did. For about 2 weeks this routine repeated till baby was strong enough fly away with it's parents.
