In the late 1800's Trumpeter Swans were extirpated from the eastern 2/3 of the US. From 1991 to 1994, a total of 44 adults were released at Michigan's Seney National Wildlife Refuge and at present the numbers average about 240 adults and subadults, with 32 breeding pairs and 87 cygnets per year.
