There were 4 families of Mallards (VIDEO uploaded) on the beach in the Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area this warm evening who looked like they had been sleeping in the hot sun most of the day. This very proud Mother Mallard was resting as her charges started to stir with some stretching, 'wing' flapping, and rapid preening. As the cuties played around Mom awoke and recognizing me came over for a visit, with her cute ducklings soon following behind. It took me by surprise, so sweet.
