Northern Saw-Whet Owl.

395 views Nature Lover October 5, 2015 Ottawa, ON Date shot: October 2, 2015

Many banding stations across Canada monitor the fall migration of the Northern Saw-whet Owl. This activity takes place from late September to end of October. Saw my first one on Friday here in Ottawa. Banding helps to provide insight on the owl's health, longevity and where they migrate. You learn a lot about how measurements are taken to determine the age, sex and health of the owl. Best of all, you get to see these cute owls up close.
