After noticing something large fly into the base of some Tag Alders at the side of the road Kelly stopped the vehicle. I lowered my window just as the bird flew up into an Alder giving me enough time to shoot 5 or 6 photos of it while Kelly got one or two through the windshield. Kelly recognized it right away as a Black-billed Cuckoo, a bird she had only seen 3 or 4 times, so I was thrilled to get some good shots of it. The red around its eye really stood out on this dullish day.
