Merlin's baby feathers barely hanging on.

366 views Jim Middleton July 17, 2014 North Bay, ON Date shot: July 15, 2014

One of three young Merlins in this tree, each now venturing out of their nest to roost on separate branches, has been working away at preening to remove its white 'baby' feathers. A few times while watching them this evening there were often close to a dozen of the fluffy white feathers drifting to the ground. It won't be long before they're flying!
