Lesser Yellowlegs

175 views Nancy Armstrong Thomson April 20, 2015 unknown Date shot: April 19, 2015

We saw more than a dozen birds that I believe were Lesser Yellowlegs eating, floating and generally hanging out in some standing water in fields yesterday afternoon. According to my Peterson Guide this time of year they migrate up to James Bay and further westward. The Red-winged Blackbird in the one shot and the Ring-billed Bull in the other photo show size comparison. The yellow legs of these birds were really noticeable.
