front door nest

836 views bill callcott May 27, 2015 strathroy ontario Date shot: May 6, 2015

a female robin chose our front door wreath for her new home, she constructed her nest, this took about two weeks, then for four subsequent days laid one egg. Two weeks later the eggs started hatching, one day at a time. Two weeks from hatching each little robin "flew the coop" - we were so impressed with our letter carrier, and everyone else who would have used our front door, they all respected our posted sign and gave the robin family the privacy they needed to start the next generation!
