Cruising Hooded Mergansers.

452 views Jim Middleton August 27, 2015 North Bay, ON Date shot: August 12, 2015

During my hike of the Laurier Woods Conservation Area I had a chance to try a new trail that passed along a long wetland area and was lucky enough to spot these 2 Hooded Mergansers enjoying the calm waters of the Beaver Pond. There were also some Canada Geese, Mallard Ducks, more Painted Turtles and even a Great-crested Flycatcher which seemed out of place in the wetland but was very busy catching dinner and returning to its favourite perch atop a dead tree. All that in the first 200 yards!
