The weather this day was very changeable so we were driving around when Kelly first spotted a Painted Turtle on an old stump staring off into the swamp. That's when I noticed it had been following the movements of a Great Blue Heron who was fishing not very far away and probably remembering that when the turtle was smaller this giant of a bird would love to have it for dinner, only on its menu, not an invited guest. The Great Blue Heron really does have a good variety of food in its diet.
