This young Great Blue Heron had caught enough fish for now (in VIDEO) and decided to fly over to a nearby 'island' to get all cleaned up before deciding what to do next. As it came close to landing it unexpectedly lost a feather. It does have lots of feathers to be sure but before it started to preen itself too much it held out its wing and with its head upside down I'd swear it started counting its feathers. Did I mention it was very hot that day, and I'd run out of water? lol.
