Sunning itself yet wary of a visitor.

794 views Jim Middleton July 30, 2015 North Bay, ON Date shot: July 14, 2015

On a drive around Canadore College area on this overcast day Kelly noticed this large Painted Turtle 'sunning' itself on an old stump or log while staring off into the swamp. Of course the sun only came out intermittently but when it did it was very intense & hot something the Turtle would enjoy more if a Great Blue Heron wasn't stalking its prey in the area. I doubt the GBH would attempt to eat this big guy but when younger I'm sure the Painted Turtle would be hiding right away to be safe!
