Northern Hawk Owl

7782 views Nature Lover March 27, 2024 Ottawa, Ontario, CA Date shot: March 9, 2024

Owls and other birds of prey feed on small mammals such as voles, mice and rats. These birds keep the vermin population in check. Knowing this it is prudent to avoid using rat poison when possible. An escaped eurasian eagle owl in New Yorks Central Park was found with high levels of rat poison from consuming rats that had come into contact with poison put out to kill rats.
