This is a rare photo of a hailstorm backlit by strong Aurora Borealis! I left the house at 10:30PM with the intention of searching for a clearing. I had heard the auroras were great that night, and wanted to photograph them. But rain was starting as I got in my vehicle, so I checked radar and cloud-coverage. I was surprised to see an area of intense rain headed straight toward Wilkie SK, and decided to try for nighttime pics of the storm cloud first. I couldn't believe how green the clouds were!
