Etiquette for Dog Owners

Here are some tips to enable dogs and humans to live together harmoniously:

1. Always keep your dog on a leash when you are out for a walk.

2. When you are walking your dog, keep him/her close to you and steer clear of people walking, running, skating, or biking.

3. Stoop and scoop after your dog, and whatever you do, don’t let your dog relieve itself on the neighbour’s lawn!

4. When you are on your own property, tie your dog up if you can’t supervise it constantly.

5. Never underestimate your dog’s potential for aggressiveness. Owners of dogs that growl and bare their teeth often say "Don’t worry, he won’t bite!" Be careful! An accident can happen very quickly, so guard against those "first times."

6. Bring your dog indoors if it has been left alone in the yard and is barking. Don’t leave your dog outdoors if you know that it is going to bark all day.

7. Never leave your dog under the supervision of a young child, especially those who are not a part of the family.
