Storm Heading Towards Eastern Canada

Freezing Rain Risk for Southern Ontario
Beginning overnight, southern Ontario was hit with heavy snow and in some places freezing rain. Blowing snow made visibility a problem for many commuters in the GTA and surrounding areas. School closures helped to reduce traffic congestion a little in the morning but commuters will probably face another battle on the drive home. The snow could turn to rain or freezing rain during the day Friday and is expected to taper off in the GTA sometime during the evening.
Commuter Chaos Moves East
As the storm moves eastward during the day Friday, the Ottawa region and southern Quebec will received the heaviest snowfall with as much as 30 – 35cm of snow. Some areas will experience mixed snow and rain with the risk of freezing rain and blowing snow. The storm should move out of the area during the overnight period.
Eastern Canada Bracing for Storm
Beginning Friday afternoon and into the evening period the Maritimes will see snow in the north with rain and the risk freezing rain for southern New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. Newfoundland will get the brunt of the storm Saturday with between 10 – 15cm of mixed rain and snow.
