December 18, 2011 — A low pressure system brought heavy rain to the northern B.C. coast and a messy mix to the interior over the weekend.

A storm system brought wintery weather to British Columbia's northern Interior, along with drenching rain to the coast.
Bella Bella saw an estimated 195 mm of rain from Friday to Sunday morning, while Port Hardy saw around 90 mm.
Heavy rain is typical for the northern and central coast at this time of year, says Rob Davis, a meteorologist at The Weather Network.
“This is the time of year when they're in the storm track,” he explains. Pacific systems deliver an average of 246 mm of rain to the Bella Coola area every December.
“British Columbia sees more precipitation in the winter than in the summer,” Davis says.
That also means landslides, flooding and avalanches are common at this time of year. Officials recommend anyone planning travel through British Columbia should check the Drive BC website for road closures and other advisories.
Areas further inland saw a messy rain-snow mix. Power outages were reported around Prince George, and roads were said to be in poor condition.
