Zebras on the loose in Brussels, Belgium

Sunday, April 19, 2015, 1:12 PM - This is one of those things that sounds made up, but: Zebras were on the loose in Brussels last week.
Social media was flooded with images of the African animals galloping full tilt through the Belgian capital (check out the "ZebraGate" hashtag on Twitter for the best).
They've since been apprehended, after a chase that involved five police cars, and the aid of Brussels radio stations warning drivers to drive carefully.

It seems the animals escaped from a zebra ranch, and the BBC tracked down a friend of the owner who said the escapees were upset after some of their number were sold.
"The other zebras got mad and trampled the gates and fled into the streets," Bernard Luyckx told the BBC. "Luckily there were no injuries, nobody got hurt, the zebras too."

The Guardian says it's believed the zebras used a vehicle tunnel to access the centre of the city, where they moseyed along the canal for a bit before the chase began.
Not to be outdone, Toronto had its own weird animal story last week: A raccoon decided to pay a crane operator a visit, proving once again there's nowhere the little beggars can't get into if they feel like it:
