Wednesday, February 4, 2015, 3:32 PM - A police search for a stolen car in Racine, Wisconsin was called off Sunday when the vehicle was located on the owner's property buried in snow, local media reports.

According to police reports, a woman left her car running outside her home. When she went outside 20 minutes later the car was gone, so she called the police.

Authorities promptly searched the neighbourhood for the missing 2000 Neon.

Roughly half an hour later the women called back saying she had found the car.

Apparently a snowplow had driven down her street while she was inside, covering her car with snow.

While the story has a happy ending Racine Police Lt. Al Days is taking the opportunity to remind the public to never leave cars unattended.

“It’s a huge temptation for car thieves,” he said, adding that locked doors usually don't act as a deterrent.
