STORM WATCH: Tune into The Weather Network on TV for continued updates on this storm.

The system that is pushing through southern Ontario moved into Quebec Friday evening, creating tricky road conditions.

A winter storm watch has been issued for Metro Montreal, Lachute, Drummondville and Quebec.

Freezing rain warnings are also in effect. Up to 5 mm of ice accretion is expected this weekend.

"Southern Quebec could see substantial rain, but it will be further south than the area that was impacted by the 1998 ice storm," explains Weather Network Chief Meteorologist Chris Scott.

While this storm isn't expected to be as widespread as the infamous 1998 storm, power outages and traffic delays are possible.

Strong winds and up to 15 cm of snow and ice pellets are expected along the St. Lawrence Valley on Saturday. "Travel may be difficult as a result of reduced road visibilities," EC says.
