A snowfall warning was issued for parts of southern Alberta early Friday with up to 15 cm possible through Saturday night.

"A weather system is forecast to move through southern Alberta Saturday bringing wet snow," says Environment Canada in the warning. "Precipitation may begin as rain, but will quickly change to snow by Sunday morning as temperatures drop close to zero."

A special weather statement has been issued for the city of Calgary and Lethbridge, where wet snow is also expected Saturday.

"With temperatures near zero, snowfall amounts will vary depending on the surface it falls onto and local intensity," EC adds.

Motorists are being warned to adjust driving habits with changing road conditions expected.

"Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," EC adds.
