West Jet plane makes emergency landing in Thunder Bay, Ont. amid reports of smoke in cabin

Tuesday, October 21, 2014, 7:20 PM - A plane flying from Edmonton to Toronto was forced to make an emergency landing in Thunder Bay, Ont. Tuesday amid reports of smoke in the cabin, the Canadian Press reports.
Robert Palmer, a spokesperson for the airline, says there were 95 passengers and six crew members on board.
The 737 Boeing departed Edmonton at 7 a.m. local time. About two and a half hours later, there were reports of possible smoke in the cabin from the captain.
The flight was diverted to Thunder Bay and an emergency was declared to ensure emergency vehicles would be available to meet the plane.

The aircraft landed safely, and crews are investigating.
According to Palmer, the passengers were taken into the airport and placed on another plane.
No injuries were reported.
