Weather brief: Snowfall warnings and thunderstorms

Friday, May 29, 2015, 7:29 AM - It may be hard to believe, but snowfall warnings were issued for Manitoba Friday. There's a risk for thunderstorms across Canada in the days to come, along with some humidity this weekend. Here's your daily weather brief.
Atlantic Canada
- Maritimes: After a reported 30 mm of rain fell after some thunderstorms in Fredericton, NB Thursday, a quieter weekend is expected Friday and Saturday.
- Newfoundland: A cold front will slide through, and that could help trigger thunderstorms north of Labrador.
Ontario & Quebec
- Ontario: Thunderstorms could track into northern Ontario Friday. There is a slight thunderstorm potential for Windsor and London, with above-seasonal temperatures for southern portions of Ontario.
- Quebec: As a cold front sweeps through Saturday, showers and thunderstorms are expected for much of southern Ontario and southern Quebec. Areas could see rainfall amounts of 5-15 cm.
Prairies
- Environment Canada issued a snowfall warning for Gillam and Shamattawa, MB Friday morning. Snowfall amounts of 10-20 cm is in the forecast through Saturday. Frost advisories have been issued for southern Saskatchewan, expanding into northern Alberta.
- Temperatures are expected to cool down Friday. There's a chance for thunderstorms into the Foothills Friday, with scattered showers expected into the weekend.
British Columbia
- There's a chance for a few non-severe thunderstorms Friday afternoon in the interior.
- Above seasonal temperatures for much of the province over the next few days.
